I love Etsy. That's right if you haven't heard of it, you need to go see all the great handmade items there. Thankfully I happened upon Free Spirit Kids about six months ago, and it's been love ever since. I should also mention I love the Montessori philosophy and beautiful Montessori materials. What better to teach toddlers seasons with than a few handmade items and a lovely set up.
Since Winter is right around the corner, I choose to start Baby Bell's week out with learning about things that go along with Winter. Free Spirit Kids Winter Montessori Cards were perfect.
You can really explore Winter in so many different ways depending on your childs age. For me, Bells is 13 months old so I am working with her through play. I'm also just observing her while she explores her shelves. At this age it's important to introduce new words and objects often. Talking to your little one through out the day helps their vocabulary and brain development.
On Baby Bells shelves with the cards, I placed her boots, a blanket, homemade icicles, a scarf, her hat, mittens, and her wooden blocks that spelled out the word winter.
For homemade icicles I put approximately 1/4 cup of water into a ziplock bag and stood the bags up in the freezer. A few hours later you have perfect icicles, great for sensory play.
food for kids. Also you don't want to miss out on my Teaching Toddlers Pinterest Board.
